Embrace Your Inbox as Central Command Again
Having bitchslapped my inbox into submission I’ve been able to rethink the inbox as a place of love, flowers, milk & honey. Well at least it isn’t a personal hell anymore, ok?
In fact, I think my inbox is actually under utilized as a place to work. Remember this is the important inbox now so I check it often still.
I thought this morning that the gmail interface (my client of choice) is now so uncluttered that I wondered if I couldn’t include something in there. Well, yessir, I can! My todo lists!
Remember the Milk has a gmail add-on that integrates your todo lists on the right hand side in a column quite beautifully. I can essentially kill another browser tab (the one that had my todos), having brought sanity back to my work.
If I were to so inclined I’d write an addon to hack gmail into sending all incoming messages not to the inbox, but to a sorting bin (like real mail has), which refreshes back to the new inbox to keep people out of the sorting bin like the routing email pigs we act like.
