Mailing Lists
As someone with ad clients such as Intel, Microsoft, HP, etc my ad agency has asked me if I have a mailing list.
Now, OSDir started somewhat in its present form at the advent of RSS syndication so I never bothered starting one thinking… well, RSS is so much cooler than email why bother?
The answer is because there are apparently 99% of the population who still don’t use RSS and advertisers would love to be able to reach them within their inboxes.
I’m not sure its all that big of a deal revenue wise, and I’m sure people who don’t use RSS exclusively aren’t picky about email text advertisements, but I started using a service today, feedblitz, to convert my rss to email & manage mailing this stuff out. I’m curious to see how that goes number of subscribers wise.
